| ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Steven Van Patten is a Brooklyn native, raised in Fort Greene. After graduating from Long Island University on a full tuition scholarship, he pursued a career in television production. Steven has managed a plethora of TV shows, including MTV’s Total Request Live and BET Tonight w/ Ed Gordon. Steven grew up loving horror movies, but couldn't help but wonder why the few people of color included in these films were stereotypical, underdeveloped and often dead before the opening credits were finished. That, along with his love of African-American history and samurai culture eventually prompted him into writing the Brookwater's Curse vampire novel series. Featuring a lead character that starts off as an 1860s Georgia plantation slave who becomes a vampire, the series has been hailed as one of the most multi-cultural supernatural adventures of all time. After receiving a variety of accolades and awards for both Brookwater's Curse Volume I and Volume II, Steven continues to work hard on the 3rd installment while still working in TV and producing a series of crime drama webisodes featuring his friends from the television industry in various roles. Steven also acts as director, writer and star (only for economical reasons so he says), in this independent romp about a retired hitman who must begin killing again after his brother becomes indebted to a crime boss. There are plans him to write a novel about the hitman, as well as a serial killer story once he is done weaving his last tome of vampire lore. At some point, he even plans to get some sleep, but it's not likely to happen anytime soon. Check out Steven's website for more info www.brookwaterscurse.com |
